Job Title: Master Plumber – HVAC Service Technician (Field Service)
Job Description
This part-time field-based role combines master-level plumbing expertise with HVAC service responsibilities across residential and commercial sites. You will work approximately 15 hours per month with flexible scheduling, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and HVAC-related systems. The position requires a Massachusetts-licensed master plumber who can work independently, deliver high-quality workmanship, and provide excellent customer service while representing the company in the field.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems, including water supply lines, fixtures, drainage systems, and water heaters in residential and commercial properties.
- Service HVAC-related components connected to plumbing systems, such as boilers, hydronic systems, and condensate lines.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements on plumbing and HVAC-related systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Review and interpret plumbing and mechanical codes to ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to plan and execute installations and repairs accurately.
- Install, modify, and maintain plumbing systems, piping, and related components in new construction and existing buildings.
- Apply construction management best practices when coordinating work on-site, including planning tasks and sequencing work efficiently.
- Handle emergency service calls and urgent repairs as needed, responding promptly to resolve critical issues for customers.
- Operate as a field service technician, traveling to various residential and commercial client locations to perform on-site service.
- Communicate clearly with customers about findings, recommended repairs, and maintenance needs while maintaining a professional and customer-focused demeanor.
- Work independently in the field, managing time and tasks effectively while upholding company standards for safety, quality, and service.
Essential Skills
- Active Massachusetts master plumber license.
- Extensive hands-on experience in plumbing service, including diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of water lines, fixtures, drainage systems, and water heaters.
- Proficiency in servicing HVAC-related plumbing components such as boilers, hydronic systems, and condensate lines.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both plumbing and HVAC-related issues in residential and commercial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Solid understanding of plumbing codes and the ability to perform code-compliant installations and repairs.
- Experience with installation and maintenance of plumbing systems and piping.
- Capability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Customer-focused communication skills and a professional field service demeanor.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a plumber pipefitter in residential and/or commercial settings.
- Construction management or coordinating work within construction projects.
- Familiarity with both new construction and retrofit or renovation projects.
- Comfort working with a variety of plumbing materials, systems, and configurations.
- Ability to manage flexible, part-time hours effectively while maintaining responsiveness to service needs.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role that involves traveling to residential and commercial buildings to perform on-site service. The schedule is part-time, averaging about 15 hours per month, with flexibility to complete work at times that align with customer needs and your availability. The work involves using standard plumbing and HVAC service tools and equipment, reading blueprints and codes on-site, and working in environments that may require appropriate trade attire and safety gear, such as work boots, durable clothing, and protective equipment as needed.
