Position: Part-time Animal Control Officer.
Location: 50 Joe Ciaglo Way, Middleborough, MA, 02346
Status: Part-time, non-benefited, non-union position
Hours: 15 hours per week; Sundays and Mondays (8:30 am – 4:00 pm); additional coverage on weekends, evenings and holidays mandatory
Wages: $26.00 per hour

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Technical and inspection work relating to the housing and care of animals being sheltered by the Town and assist in the enforcement of State statutes and Town By-laws as they relate to the control and regulation of animals.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of duties under the direct supervision of the full-time Animal Control Officer and general supervision of the Director of Planning, Community Development and Animal Control. Operates a Town vehicle, general office equipment, cleaning supplies, hoses cages and various animal capture. Makes constant contact with concerned owners of animals and other citizens requiring courtesy, patience and tact. Frequent contact with other Town departments, veterinarians and rescue agencies. Communication often requires considerable persuasiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays mandatory with a background of working with animals. Physical required; Animal Control Certification preferred.
