POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for leading, managing, and directing the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the rehabilitation department. Open to licensed Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) with leadership capabilities, this role oversees program development, ensures regulatory compliance, manages therapy personnel, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality resident care.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Develops, implements, and evaluates rehabilitation programs to meet the needs of residents with various conditions and diagnoses;
Supervises, mentors, and supports rehabilitation team members, providing clinical and administrative guidance to ensure high-quality patient care;
Collaborates with physicians, therapists, nursing leadership, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care plans for all residents;
Conducts staff training and education programs to promote clinical best practices and stay current with industry developments and regulatory standards;
Monitors, tracks, and reports on clinical program outcomes, identifying areas for quality improvement and implementing necessary changes;
Manages department schedules, staffing, efficiency, and rehabilitation resources effectively;
Maintains appropriate, accurate, and timely documentation and audits in accordance with state and federal regulations;
Fosters relationships with local medical centers, clinics, and healthcare organizations to expand referral sources and promote partnerships;
Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair or replacement of therapy equipment, as necessary;
Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program certified by the APTA or an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program certified by ACOTE.
Current licensure/certification as a PTA or COTA in the State.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a rehabilitation or post-acute care setting, with supervisory or management experience preferred.

Carries out other department leadership tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention or administrative oversight is required.
