SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can assist teachers in the delivery of instruction to students.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants must forward cover letter resume as well as three current letters of recommendation

Education Training and Experience:

  1. High school diploma two years of higher education preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work with students under the direction of the teacher nurse/or support staff

Knowledge Required:

  1. Ability to follow directions effectively.
  2. Familiarity with student instructional and disciplinary procedures.

Abilities Required:

  1. Ability to implement assigned tasks and activities.
  2. Diligence in monitoring students safety and security.
  3. Ability to support and reinforce the teachers expectations for students.

Skills Required:

  1. Able to follow directions promptly and effectively.
  2. Able to relate to students as a caring adult.
  3. Able to work with students on academic tasks assigned by the teacher.

Supervision:

Supervision Scope:

Supervises and supports students.

Supervision and Evaluation:

Supervised by principal assistant principal housemaster or assistant director of special education.

  6. Maintains professional competence through in-service educational activities.
  7. Fulfills other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Salary: As per the WEA contract.
