Vocational Instructor
: The COVE School in Plymouth, MA is seeking a Vocational Instructor. Under direction of the Principal and Vocational Coordinator, The Vocational Instructor coordinates with vocational team to plan and implement school-wide vocational programming; coordinates development of new vocational programs and initiatives for the school community. Assists with oversight of internship opportunities for students; provides direct instruction on specific vocational tracks and curricula with a focus on job readiness targeted to therapeutic class groupings of special education students primarily presenting with emotional impairments and performing at varying academic levels. Additional responsibilities include networking, facilitating off-site student hands-on experiences, and specific job skills training.How You'll Be Making a DifferenceCoordinates with Principal and Vocational Coordinator in the development of school-wide and residential vocational program initiatives, including culinary, landscape / horticulture, carpentry, woodworking, general/basic maintenance, grounds-keeping, farm-to-table projects, and equine studies programs.. Plans and implements new vocational programs under supervision of Vocational Coordinator.Participates in delivering vocational education to residential clients.Seek out and maintain community partnerships for work experience/internship placements.Works collaboratively with the Job Coach to oversee work experiences/volunteerism and internship initiatives including the development and implementation of Individual Vocational Plans and student portfolios and participating with the vocational team in the planning, facilitation, and oversight of on- and off-site internship programs for vocational and residential students.Under the direction of the Vocational Coordinator aligns student vocational plans with student IEP goals, transition planning, and service delivery.Works individually and in groups to help students to learn subject matter by delivering related curriculum in correlation kinesthetic learning applications. Directs, assesses, and evaluates the learning experiences of students. Provides instruction needed for students to obtain certifications in the respective fields.Identifies individual student strengths and can offer differentiated instruction to meet the needs of the student.Participates in development and maintenance of individual student vocation portfolios, including tracking of hours and certificate completions by students. Participates in competency tracking for student progress.Embraces the model of the facility/agencys behavior management principles, system, and procedures, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training.
