AI Research Scientist

Our client, a growing Biotech company, are hiring an AI Research Scientist to join their research team. The successful candidate will help shape the company’s platform and drive innovation in AI for healthcare by transforming cutting-edge research into practical tools and meaningful open science contributions.

Responsibilities

• Transform whiteboard concepts into working prototypes and experimental demos.

• Enhance reliability by integrating LLMs with retrieval methods, symbolic reasoning and traditional ML techniques.

• Formulate clear hypotheses, conduct rigorous studies and iterate quickly.

• Contribute to the field by publishing papers, releasing datasets and engaging with the research community.

• Drive both short-term product impact and long-term, high-value research initiatives.

• Support team growth by mentoring, leading paper discussions and promoting reproducible science best practices.

Skillset

• PhD in Machine Learning, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar.

• Proven research track record with first-author publications at leading conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ACL, ICML, EMNLP).

• Deep expertise in LLMs, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and integration with external tools and knowledge sources.

• Strong experimental background in benchmarking, statistical analysis and clear visualization of complex results.

• Proficient in production-grade coding (Python, PyTorch/JAX) with experience contributing to large-scale codebases.

• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex research into actionable insights for product and executive teams.
