Lead Electromechanical Layout & GD&T Engineer

Join our Layout Engineering team and work side-by-side with our Structures design group to build and maintain the structural component catalog used in customer storage systems—delivering reliable, efficient warehouse layouts from concept to installation.

• Support installation teams in the field.
• Continuously refine designs via stakeholder feedback to cut material cost and shorten project timelines.

Core responsibilities

• Create site-specific 3D models and detailed assemblies in SolidWorks for structural components.
• Apply FEA (SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys) and tolerance analysis to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Own drawing packages with GD&T to ANSI Y14.5; manage BOMs and ECOs within PLM.
• Prototype, test, and iterate quickly, closing the loop between design intent and real-world results.
• Partner with structural, electrical, software, controls, manufacturing, and quality counterparts to ensure integration success.
• Diagnose design issues, propose solutions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Curate and enhance the structures catalog supporting our storage system designs.

Must-haves

• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience with electromechanical exposure.
• Advanced SolidWorks skills; proficiency with SolidWorks Simulation or Ansys preferred.
• Experience integrating motors, sensors, and actuators.
• Knowledge of machining, casting, sheet metal, and plastics processes.
• DFMA mindset and familiarity with PLM platforms.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities; collaborative team player.
• Genuine interest in robotics and automation; industry experience in robotics/automation/material handling is advantageous.

Work setting and travel

• Fully on-site at our Wilmington, MA HQ.
• Up to 20% travel to customer and project sites; valid driver’s license and ability to drive and/or fly required.
• Use a personal credit card for business expenses; reimbursed on a bi-weekly schedule.
