Under the general supervision of the CT Supervisor, and following established policies and procedures, operates a CT (computed tomography) scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in diagnoses and treatment of pathologies. The technologist provides technical and ancillary support to the department's mission through demonstrated clinical and academic competency in CT. Clinical and academic competency is defined as completing training and meeting all clinical responsibilities to all areas assigned, ability to work unsupervised in the clinical setting, willingness to rotate to all areas as the need arises, and holding appropriate licensure and advanced certification, as required by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), the ACR (American College of Radiology)and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
- Operates a CT (computed tomography) scanner to perform technologist duties as required and necessary for proper departmental workflow.
- Performs appropriate studies as determined through policy and procedure. Follows requisition in terms of providing proper study for patients. Ensures that exams requested match patient condition and/or history and calls or asks the appropriate persons for more information as necessary to perform the proper study.
- Prepares patient for exams as required and always ensures patient comfort and modesty. Accommodates patient needs and staffing needs through flexibility in scheduling and timeliness of studies.
- Sets up equipment as necessary and uses proper imaging techniques. Adjusts imaging factors when necessary to improve study or quality factors. Works through radiologist’s requirements to provide appropriate images and provides additional views and variations of techniques as requested.
- Completes procedures in a timely fashion while providing quality images for Radiology and outside departments.
Education:
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Requirements:
- Must be ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology.
- CT Specialty required or obtained within one year of employment.
- BLS or CPR required.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in diagnostic radiology, with experience in CT preferred.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Must possess analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Creativity and latitude, and the ability to adapt to a changing pace within the department are necessary qualities.
- Must present a positive, team-oriented attitude and a professional appearance.
