Welder/Mechanic

We are currently seeking an experienced Welder/Mechanic for MMWEC’s owned and operated Stony Brook Energy Center; a 526 MW combined cycle and peaking power plant located in Ludlow, MA. Responsibilities include welding, pipefitting, rigging and the mechanical repair of all power plant and related equipment, including valves, pumps, compressors, etc. The individual in this position will demonstrate the ability to perform comprehensive preventative maintenance procedures. Welding responsibilities include the fabrication, installation and maintenance of equipment and fixtures, using drawings and/or other specifications. Mechanical responsibilities include the use of precision measurement devices such as micrometers, dial indicators, lasers, feeler gauges, and depth micrometers. Possession of a Second or First Massachusetts Firemen’s License is a plus .

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this individual should possess the following:

• Ability to qualify for performing various mechanical tasks on a natural gas pipeline

• Ability to participate in a DOT-required random drug testing program

• Ability to work productively with a team and independently with a positive and proactive attitude

Qualifications include 5 years of proven knowledge and experience that demonstrates the ability to maintain and repair power plant equipment such as:

• Combustion turbines

• Steam turbines

• Pumps

• Compressors

• Gearboxes
