3LED is a diversified lighting technology company serving architectural, OEM and commercial lighting markets through brands including Xico Lighting, LEDdynamics, Fusion Optix, LEDSupply, ProLume Lighting and FlexGrid Systems .

We develop lighting fixtures, optics, LED light engines, drivers, controls and complete lighting systems. Our next stage of growth requires a stronger engineering organization, reusable product platforms and disciplined product development systems.

Position Summary:

3LED is seeking a VP, Engineering & Product Development to build and lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization.

This role is responsible for strengthening how engineering is done across the company: developing people, building technical capability, creating reusable platforms, improving engineering systems and delivering commercially successful products.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to help take the business to its next level. This is a hands-on executive role for a leader who can operate across mechanical, electrical, optical, controls and manufacturing disciplines without needing to be the deepest expert in every area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team of approximately 8-10 people.
• Develop engineering talent, leadership capability and technical discipline.
• Lead product development across lighting fixtures, optics, LED light engines, drivers, controls and custom OEM solutions.
• Establish common engineering standards, design rules and development processes.
• Build reusable product platforms and architectures across brands.
• Improve documentation, engineering change control, product configuration and data management.
• Work with Sales & Marketing to translate market needs into practical product roadmaps.
• Work with Operations, Supply Chain and Quality to ensure products are manufacturable, reliable and cost-effective.
• Support New Product Introduction from concept through production launch.
• Introduce practical digital engineering and AI-enabled tools where they improve productivity, quality or decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering speed, quality, reuse and execution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering and product development leadership.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proven record developing physical products from concept through production.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, DFM and NPI.
• Ability to build systems, standards and processes that scale beyond individual contributors.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring and developing engineers.
