Excavator Operator
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Excavator Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will operate heavy machinery, primarily excavators, to facilitate various construction projects. Your expertise will ensure safe, efficient, and precise excavation work that supports infrastructure development and site preparation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while honing your technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar machinery to perform excavation, grading, trenching, and site clearing tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met.
- Assist with the setup of construction sites by positioning machinery and preparing the ground for subsequent phases of development.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to interpret plans and execute tasks accurately according to specifications.
- Utilize horizontal drilling equipment and tanker trucks when required for specialized tasks such as underground utilities or water management.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, equipment usage, and safety inspections for project documentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators in a construction setting with a solid understanding of heavy equipment operation principles.
- Mechanical knowledge of construction machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar equipment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in operating heavy vehicles such as dump trucks or tanker trucks.
- Strong familiarity with construction site safety practices and ability to adhere strictly to safety regulations.
- Experience working on diverse construction projects involving paving, water management, horizontal drilling, or grading is highly desirable.
- Ability to read technical plans and interpret specifications accurately.
- Construction site experience with knowledge of various machinery operations enhances efficiency on the job.
Preferred Licensing
- DOT Card and Hoisting License (training and certification available)
