About the Opportunity

Precede Biosciences is seeking a Senior/Principal Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team and create the data platform and analysis pipelines upon which our research and products are based. You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn about a diverse set of cutting-edge technologies and have a huge impact on the success of the organization.

• You will be instrumental to the design, development, deployment and operation of our data processing, management and exploration infrastructure, supporting both research and production needs
• You will employ best practices and principles of modern, cloud-based software engineering to ensure that we can iterate quickly without compromising on quality, reliability or maintainability
• You will be part of a cross-functional team of computational biologists, assay product development teams and translational scientists to ensure that our data platform facilitates clinical accuracy, operational efficiency, security and commercial scale
• You will proactively identify and solve complex problems while also communicating effectively to all involved stakeholder

• You love learning new skills and knowledge through practical, hands-on experience while simultaneously creating value
• You have a successful history of delivering production software from concept through launch and support, and are comfortable with modern best practices for software development and infrastructure-as-code
• You have a deep knowledge of AWS-based infrastructure used for data processing, management and security in the life sciences, preferably with NGS-based data
• You have a minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience in life sciences software development in the cloud
• You have fluency in one or more programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python or Java as well as IaC tools such as CloudFormation, CDK or Terraform
• You have practical experience organizing and managing data in a dynamic, growing environment in alignment with FAIR data principles
• You have great communication skills, both written and verbal, and can communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders with varying degrees of engineering knowledge
• You love startups and starting up. You are comfortable taking on new tasks or projects with little direction and adjusting course in response to feedback and information.
• You bring an openness to learn from diverse perspectives and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams
