OVERVIEW

Bridge Boston Charter School is a tuition-free, K1-8 public school serving 335 students in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and the surrounding community– many of whom have experienced social, emotional, and developmental barriers to learning. Bridge Boston’s robust social-emotional program is designed with an eye to supporting students who have experienced trauma in their homes and communities.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Head Custodian , the Custodian will s pecifically, they will be responsible for:

Building Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Assist with painting classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Assemble furniture, install shelving, and complete other small maintenance projects.

Custodial Services

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, conference rooms, cafeterias, gym spaces, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling throughout the building.
• Follow all safety procedures when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Grounds & Outdoor Maintenance

• Assist with lawn mowing, landscaping, weeding, and shrub maintenance.
• Maintain outdoor common areas and school grounds.
• Support seasonal projects and campus beautification efforts.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways and entrances when necessary.

Operations Support

• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Assist with classroom setups and summer building preparations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support summer operations and facility readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and moving equipment.
• Experience with custodial, maintenance, painting, or landscaping work preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Required Experience

• 2-3 years of experience

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: $27/hour
