Data Scientist - Optimization/Operations Research Engineer

Basic Qualifications

1. Master’s or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Coursework or practical experience designing and implementing linear and mixed-integer optimization formulations for custom use cases.
3. Prior experience writing efficient and organized code, preferably in a team-based work setting.
4. Ability to collaborate with other data scientists and engineers.
5. Fast learner and exceptional problem solving skills, evidenced by prior work and/or research.
6. An energetic, team-oriented professional who is passionate about innovation and data science.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prior research or work experience in the transportation industry.
2. Experience coding in Julia.
3. Familiarity with optimization methods, related tools, and the latest technology (e.g. CPLEX, Gurobi).
4. Experience with version control (Git).
5. Passion for work that benefits the public good.

Job Description

As a Data Scientist on the AlphaRoute team, you will play an important part in the company’s growth and development. You will leverage your problem solving, mathematical, and programming skills to satisfy a wide spectrum of project objectives. You will analyze complex datasets, design mathematical optimization formulations, and implement and test code in a production setting. In this fast-growing startup environment, you will perform both custom analysis for clients and backend development work. A data scientist will bring energy, positivity, and determination to an already exciting work environment.
