Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
The Speech Language Pathologist-Assistant (SLP-A) is responsible for the delivery speech/language services to students receiving special education services in school environments and/or people living in community-based residential programs. The SLP-A must collaborate with a supervising SLP, teachers, parents, caregivers, and other professionals to understand the strengths, interests, and needs of the individual, develop, implement, and monitor relevant treatment plans.
SLP-As will propose relevant IEP, IHP, ISP goals to participants' interdisciplinary teams and work throughout the year to help them achieve their goals. SLP-As will collect and summarize data on participants’ progress, and draft progress reports as dictated by the funder. In addition to collaborating with a supervising SLP, SLP-As will work closely with other professionals such as psychologists, behavior analysts, and mental health therapists. SLP-As will often need to support participants’ use of high, and low-tech AAC systems. Experience with the SETT framework is desirable, as SLP-As will often serve as a resource for SETT evaluators. Experience with or the ability to develop and coordinate therapy schedules to ensure participants receive all services identified in their plans. Experience with feeding and swallowing interventions is a bonus. Requirements
Current and unrestricted SLP-A license to practice in the state of practice. Department of Education licensure or certification as required by state. Experience working with people with special needs such as autism and intellectual disabilities. Demonstrated proficiency in documentation and compliance with ethical standards. Additional clearances or certifications as required by state and/or funder (e.g., First Aid/CPR certification, TB test, Mandated Reporter training, Child Abuse Clearances, FBI background checks, state police background checks, etc. Preferences
Experience writing goals coupled with the ability to collect data that enables teams to determine if/when participants reach their goals. Other Skills/Abilities
