Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer designs and develops business applications and customizes the platforms that support Clean Harbors' field operations, billing, and service workflows. This role balances new development with production support — investigating and resolving data and application issues that impact day-to-day business operations. You'll work as part of a cross-functional team supporting one or more business domains, partnering closely with Product Owners, QA, DBAs, and business stakeholders. Senior Engineers mentor less experienced team members and help raise the technical bar across the team.

  • Design and build software solutions by understanding business needs, partnering with users and product owners, analyzing system flows and data usage, and following the full software development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate operational feasibility through thoughtful analysis of requirements, problem definition, and proposed solutions, and identify risks and trade-offs before code is written.

  • Document solutions clearly through diagrams, flowcharts, code comments, and readable code so that teammates and future maintainers can understand and extend your work.

  • Design and deploy solutions by defining technical specifications, following established standards, and ensuring smooth handoff to QA and production support.

  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, including root cause analysis, hotfix coordination, and partnering with Architecture, DBA, and infrastructure teams when issues cross system boundaries.

  • Continuously develop your craft by learning new tools, techniques, and best practices, including evolving AI-assisted development workflows.

  • Protect business operations by handling confidential information appropriately.

  • Surface insights by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing patterns in development work and production issues.

  • Mentor less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Related field
  • 5+ Years of Relevant experience
  • Full Stack developer with experience in the Microsoft .NET stack
  • Proficient in using AI software development using code generation tools such as Cursor, GitHub CoPilot, etc.
  • Proficient in prompt engineering
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
