Job Description Summary
The Engineering Specifications Consultant provides technical expertise to MEP firms, Design/Build contractors and other specifiers, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain relationships with specifiers. This position calls on engineers, architects, EPCs, contractors, builders, government agencies, etc. to ensure Viega products are in every applicable section of their project and master specifications. Provides technical support to internal stakeholders and collaborates closely with field sales teams to support regional business objectives.

Responsibilities:
Builds and maintains long-term relationships with MEP engineers, architects, general contractors, EPCs, builders, and manufacturing accounts to ensure the inclusion of company products across all sections of their specifications, with the ultimate goal of being listed in their master specifications.
Executes account strategies as directed by management, aligned with corporate objectives. Assists in developing strategic plans for key accounts within the assigned territory to exceed goals in revenue growth, account profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Delivers professional presentations to key stakeholders—including engineers, architects, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, and design/build contractors—using appropriate resources to drive market growth and promote product adoption.
Collaborates closely with external customers and partners, as well as internal sales and product engineering teams, to develop and maintain strong technical relationships. Understands customer product strategies, requirements, and constraints to align company solutions with their needs.
Partners with cross-functional teams to revise existing specifications and assist in the development of new ones. Identify industry-specific requirements and recommend specification changes to support the integration of Viega products in projects. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of client commitments.
Provides technical support to internal stakeholders, including leadership, Industrial Sales Managers, National Accounts, and Technical Marketing, for the review and development of engineering and product guide specifications as requested.
Drives demand for company products by initiating new customer engagements. Maintains a regular schedule of customer and representative visits to strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities.
Travels to various locations to provide in-person support, as needed or requested, in alignment with overall business strategy.
Responds to and follows up on leads by prospecting, identifying, and prioritizing potential opportunities. Engages contacts by answering questions and providing detailed product information.
Liaises with local code officials to obtain approval for both existing and new products.
Works with local inspectors to address and resolve product installation questions or concerns.
Maintains and regularly updates Salesforce, including the engineering guide specification database, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
Provides reporting and updates to management, both ongoing and as requested regarding field activity, specification inclusion, competitors, forecasts, industry trends and new products, as well as business metrics.
Participates in local societies, including but not limited to ASPE, ASHRAE, etc. to promote an understanding of Viega products and technologies.
Attends meetings as required or assigned.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Will be required to travel up to 70% of the time (mostly local travel)
What We're Looking For:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in the use of common office equipment and software – including: computers, printers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint
Experienced in the use of CRM tools and their application in sales environments
Detailed knowledge of codes and standards
Understanding of specifications and how they are developed and utilized within assigned industries
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders strategic-selling skills

Proficient at accurately calculating figures and amounts such as unit conversions, percentages, area and volume.
Skilled at delivering engaging and persuasive presentations to groups of varying size and demographic
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
Builds and maintains positive, productive relationships within and across teams, customers, and vendors
Works effectively both independently and in a team environment, collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil engineering (or related field), or applicable licensure (CPD, GPD, etc.) required (May consider 10+ years of professional experience in piping design and/or installation in lieu of this requirement)
3-5 industry experience required
Current and valid Driver License required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred

Total Rewards Package :
Compensation
- Base: $116,802-$159,435 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
