Environmental Project Manager
Your impact
When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We’re looking for a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) in Connecticut to work on exciting site investigation and remediation projects for government and private-sector clients in the Northeastern U.S. and elsewhere, as well as support major regional infrastructure and redevelopment projects. The position will draw on strong planning and communication expertise, as well as leadership in project management. In other instances, you may be a key team member joining multi-disciplinary teams on major projects. You should be a self-motivated professional with several years of demonstrated industry and task/project management experience, along with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
A successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills along with relevant project management and regulatory expertise, in addition to successful financial performance and client satisfaction on their projects. You will spend most of your time managing projects and mentoring more junior members of your team. This position is a great opportunity for a candidate who is a self-starter and who is eager to grow in new and exciting ways.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
• Lead and manage a project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout, consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements stated in the contract.
• Manage multiple projects and teams in a dynamic environment to meet schedule demands.
• Lead and support safety planning, chartering and implementation in the field. Be a strong advocate of Jacobs safety and quality culture.
• Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety and organization of contractors, subcontractors, and internal technical and support staff.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance. Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action.
• Communication and conflict management with internal project teams, other contractors, and client teams.
• Have strong written and oral communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
• Act as one of the prime contacts with the client team and be responsible for overall work progress, technical performance, and overall client satisfaction with the projects. Actively seek and develop both follow-on and new work for additional work for the clients served.
• Work with project delivery leadership and support team development through coaching and mentoring.
• Coordinate planning, permitting, design, field implementation, and reporting activities with staff, subcontractors, stakeholders, and clients.
• Support other project managers and program managers in all aspects of delivering technically challenging projects for major client accounts.
Here's what you'll need
• Bachelor or advanced degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
• A candidate who is a practicing Connecticut LEP.
• Demonstrated prior experience in managing environmental projects for private or government clients with a strong track record that includes planning, investigation, remediation, and monitoring of impaired properties under state and federal programs.
• The position involves travel in New England, primarily, but may also involve some travel outside of the New England area.
• Experience in remediation design and construction oversight considered a plus.
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour refreshers up to date.
