Project Manager - Crompton Lab
Overview
The Project Manager in Pediatric Oncology works in partnership with the Principal Investigator (PI) to develop a long-term strategic plan to more efficiently manage tissue-based research projects, clinical research operations, collaborations, and regulatory approval. The position is also involved in the development of the first of its kind pediatric-specific liquid biopsy test for clinical return of results.
Due to the nature of this position with clinical research:
- Previous experience in the conduct of clinical trials and research operations preferred.
- Experience in human subject regulatory management and management of specimen-based research preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in cancer, genetics, genomics, or research preferred.
Duties specific for this Project Manager role:
- Responsible for regulatory management for the Lab by drafting, submitting and maintaining regulatory approval for biology protocols originating from the Crompton Lab.
- Responsible for management of ongoing grants and projects within the lab, including tracking, drafting and submitting progress reports, tracking milestones and tracking of project invoices and payments.
- Responsible for sample selection and working with vendors to obtain purchase orders and completing invoicing.
- Coordinate work between collaborators involved in PI-initiated consortiums and projects
- Work on “special projects” that may include support for the pediatric solid tumor program where the hiring PI has research leadership roles.
- Contribute creatively and scientifically to grant applications, project reports, manuscript preparation, and IRB applications.
- In collaboration with clinical research administration and grant managers, may maintain, monitor and reconcile all study and related grant finances. These may include budget development, expenditure tracking, procurement, salary offset worksheets and staffing.
Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing complex projects that support departmental and cross-departmental initiatives. This role involves planning and managing multiple project activities, managing resources, and ensuring project objectives are met. The Project Manager will engage with stakeholders to facilitate project success and drive continuous improvement. Focuses on executing project plans and achieving project-specific objectives.

Responsibilities
Scope and Complexity: Manage moderately complex projects, focusing on resource allocation and meeting project objectives.
Decision Making: Make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and project timelines, with some autonomy in resolving operational challenges. Stakeholder Interaction and Communication: Engage with a broad range of stakeholders,including department heads and project leads, to gather requirements and provide updates.
Project Management: Plan and manage project activities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and efficient use of resources. Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring: Track project progress and performance metrics, reporting findings to stakeholders and recommending improvements. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to project success and implement mitigation strategies to address them.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, healthcare, or a related field required.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibility of which at least two (2) years must be in project management OR comparable roles.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Solid understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Proficiency in project management software and templates.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
