Full Time, 36 hours a week, to include weekend hours.
The Position:
The Avian Exotics (A/E) Overnight Technician works collaboratively with their veterinarians and the entire Angell support staff to provide Angell clientele with excellent clinical and customer service. These services include, assisting with case management of A/E animals admitted to the hospital, assisting with technical procedures, triaging patients, communications with clients and sometimes referring veterinarians. The technician assists the veterinarian in Inpatient/ER, clinic, radiology, surgery and in other areas of the hospital.
The technician must be able to interact with all staff members and clients in a positive and dynamic manner and provide technical advice following hospital policies and procedures. It requires knowledge specific to A/E clinical tests, procedures, protocols, medical terminology, and animal handling and math skills. The technician should be able to communicate, orally and in writing, veterinary specific clinical information regarding services to our clients and other hospital staff.
Some Responsibilities to include:
- Avian Exotics Ward- nursing care of all patients
- Knowledge, preparation, administration and storage of all medications utilized in the department
- Provide exceptional client service based on the individual needs of each client and patient
- Ability to assist in taking radiographs on avian and exotics patients in cooperation with radiology technical staff
- Properly utilize Instinct electronic treatment sheet and record treatments correctly
- Assist veterinarians and/or technician when needed with surgical patient paperwork, pre-operative assessments and client education relevant to surgical anesthetic or diagnostic procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stoop, bend, kneel and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 80%-100% of entire shift.
- Able to move lift, push, pull or carry up to 22 kgs repeatedly. Over 22 kgs with assistance.

COMPENSATION:
Certified Veterinary Technicians starting $29-$34/hr, $5000 Sign on Bonus for CVTs!
Please note that candidates with additional experience or credentials may be eligible for compensation aligned with their qualifications
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited Veterinary Technician program or equivalent certification required (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
- Licensed Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required.
- A minimum of 1 year veterinary technician experience required.
- Previous working experience with avian and exotic patients required.
- Advanced technical skills including, but not limited to: venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia, and IV fluid administration.
