Beacon Drain Service, a subsidiary of Beacon Mechanical Service is looking for a Drain and Sewer Technician, also known as a Drain Cleaner or Sewer Specialist, is responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues related to drains, sewer lines, and plumbing systems. The technician works to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of these systems to prevent blockages, leaks, and other plumbing problems. This role requires hands-on expertise in using specialized tools and equipment to inspect, clean, and repair drains and sewer lines efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drain Cleaning and Inspection:
- Conduct inspections of drains, sewer lines, and plumbing systems using video cameras and other specialized tools to identify blockages, leaks, or damages.
- Clear clogs and blockages from drains using mechanical augers, hydro-jetting equipment, or other suitable methods.
- Ensure proper disposal and treatment of debris and waste materials removed from drains and sewers.
2. Sewer Line Repair and Maintenance:
- Perform repairs on damaged sewer lines and plumbing components, such as pipes, fittings, and fixtures, ensuring proper functionality.
- Replace faulty or worn-out parts of sewer systems, including seals, gaskets, and connectors.
- Collaborate with other technicians or contractors for major sewer line repairs or replacements.
3. Customer Service:
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner, explaining the issues identified and the necessary repairs or maintenance required.
- Answer customer queries, provide estimates, and discuss preventative measures to avoid future problems.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on drains and sewer systems to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and regulations during repairs and installations.
5. Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and services performed for each client.
- Utilize computer software or other systems to generate work orders, track inventory, and manage job-related documentation.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect, clean, and maintain tools and equipment used for drain and sewer services to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment to supervisors.
7. Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to drain and sewer services.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in plumbing, drain cleaning, or sewer services is preferred.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, sewer lines, and related equipment.
- Familiarity with various drain cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Ability to use inspection tools, such as video cameras and locating devices.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
