Duration: 13-Week Contract

Pay Rate: $17/hour

Shift: Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

Schedule: 24 Hours/Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Job Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support a Behavioral Health Unit in Gardner, MA. The ideal candidate will provide direct patient care and assist individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health needs in a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment. This role requires strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, toileting, grooming, and mobility
• Monitor patient safety and conduct routine safety checks throughout the unit
• Support patients experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges using de-escalation techniques
• Provide 1:1 patient observation when required
• Record and report patient information accurately and promptly
• Assist with transporting patients to appointments, testing, or other departments
• Participate in therapeutic activities and group sessions as directed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment
• Communicate effectively with nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Assist with maintaining patient belongings and unit organization
• Observe patient activity in common areas to ensure safety and compliance

Required Qualifications

• Active CNA certification required (Massachusetts certification preferred)

OR one of the following:

• Completion of at least 75 hours in an accredited nursing program, including first clinical rotation
• Active EMT or Paramedic certification
• Active Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification
• Active Home Health Aide (HHA) certification

Additional Requirements

• AHA CPR certification required within 60 days of hire
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred
• Behavioral health or psychiatric patient care experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
• Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
• Ability to work evening shifts, weekends, and in a collaborative team environment
