Utility Worker
Job Description
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM .
This position performs a variety of general labor duties in support of facilities operations. Responsibilities include assisting craft workers (such as carpenters, electricians, and HVAC mechanics), loading and unloading materials, moving and assembling furniture, and transporting sensitive or critical equipment. Tasks may also include operating hand tools, opening crates, installing signage, performing minor masonry and road repairs, and various groundskeeping duties. Additional duties involve preparing construction sites, custodial tasks including fluid clean-up, snow removal, minor vehicle maintenance, and painting of fixtures and building exteriors. The role also requires participation in 24-hour emergency response for snow removal and other facility-related incidents.
Requirements
Ability to assist skilled tradespeople in various tasks
Experience with loading, unloading, and distributing construction/building materials
Capable of digging, lifting, and carrying heavy loads
Proficient in moving and assembling/disassembling furniture and equipment
Familiarity with using hand tools and occasional use of special tools
Ability to open crates, install posts/signs, and reattach doors
Willingness to perform groundskeeping, landscaping, minor masonry, and road repairs
Capable of preparing and cleaning construction sites safely
Able to respond to spills, leaks, or floods with appropriate custodial action
Available and willing to perform snow removal duties, including shoveling, on a mandatory basis
Experience with painting outdoor fixtures and building exteriors
Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., cleaning, refilling fluids, changing wipers or bulbs)
Willingness to participate in 24-hour emergency response efforts as needed
