Software Development Engineer, AWS Polly
DESCRIPTION
Join us in developing AWS Text-to-Speech (TTS) service that enables computers and devices to speak naturally. Our service powers voice-controlled interfaces, website narration, and speech-enabled devices for Amazon customers worldwide. As part of our international team, you'll create software-generated voices using advanced technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs). These voices match human speech quality and natural expression. You'll build and maintain a global AWS service that processes requests from millions of devices and users while maintaining low latency and very high availability. Key job responsibilitiesAWS Amazon Polly needs a Software Development Engineer to build and operate cloud computing systems that serve billions of requests daily. You'll develop distributed systems processing machine learning workloads with the lowest latency. Our team creates novel solutions for complex engineering challenges while scaling our infrastructure across AWS regions worldwide. A day in the life
Your responsibilities will include: * Developing customer-facing features for API and AWS Console
* Operating cloud services that process billions of requests per day
* Building and optimizing internal automation tools Our team manages: * Core service infrastructure
* Backend services with 99.99% availability targets
* RESTful APIs with <100ms response times
* Frontend implementations in the AWS Console You'll work with technologies including: * Distributed systems
* Cloud infrastructure
* Full-stack development frameworks
* Performance monitoring and optimization tools About the team
Our team comprises of software engineers specializing in distributed systems. We closely cooperate with machine learning experts and product managers with cloud service experience. Our team members are located in United States (Boston) and Europe (UK and Poland). We optimize our global presence by:
* Scheduling core collaboration hours that overlap time zones and accommodate all team members
* Using asynchronous communication tools for non-urgent matters
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- The candidate for that position must be an US citizen willing to work from the Boston office.
