Trade compliance specialist

Job Title: Trade Compliance Specialist – Mid-Level
Location: Remote (must be within commutable distance to Framingham, MA for quarterly meetings or yearly summits)
Contract: 6+ months, potential extension
Industry: Retail

Hours: 36.25 hours/week

Role Overview:

This position is fully remote with occasional in-office attendance. The Trade Compliance Specialist will directly support the Trade Compliance Program Manager, focusing on global cargo security, compliance monitoring, and program execution across a network of 50+ countries. This role emerged due to increased trade and tariff-related processing needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor daily cargo security at overseas shipping locations.
• Track and report on cargo security audit statuses, communications, and results.
• Identify and incorporate current and new shipping locations into the risk assessment system.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly program readouts.
• Assist with creating and updating training and reference materials on minimum security criteria.
• Support program initiatives such as self-assessments, risk reviews, and denied party screening.
• Monitor dashboards, summarize program status, and communicate highlights.
• Support meeting content, notes, action items, and templates.
• Provide backup support for the area and implement new processes as needed.
• Perform online research, analysis, and special projects as requested.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or customs (job or internship).
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookups) and PowerPoint presentation creation.
• Proficient with Word, MS Teams, and other corporate tools.
• Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
• Highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects, and setting priorities.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and work collaboratively in a team.
• Flexibility, positive attitude, and research skills.
• Some college preferred but not required.
