Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical accounting processes, including month-end close, inventory reconciliation, and fixed asset management. The ideal candidate will bring a strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of accounting principles to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Responsibilities: - Manage and lead the month-end close process, ensuring all tasks are completed promptly and accurately. - Handle fixed asset accounting operations, including asset capitalization and depreciation schedules. - Oversee inventory accounting, ensuring proper reconciliation and accurate reporting of inventory balances. - Review and support payroll processing, including reconciliation and validation of payroll data. - Assist with year-end close activities, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation. - Conduct addback analyses and reconcile related accounts to ensure compliance and accuracy. - Prepare for and facilitate audits, coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary documentation. - Execute ad hoc accounting projects and analyses as requested by management. - Utilize accounting software and advanced Excel skills to perform reconciliations, analyze financial data, and generate reports. Requirements - Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management. - Strong skills in preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts. - Expertise in inventory accounting and fixed asset management. - Proficiency in bank reconciliations and related financial processes. - Advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting. - Familiarity with payroll processing and reconciliation procedures. - Ability to support audit preparation and interact effectively with external auditors. - Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
