A great opportunity exists for a Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department! The ideal candidate will become familiar with Aspire’s family of services in order to interface with various operational units and perform the requisite functions in an accurate and timely manner in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail, comfort dealing with various levels of management, and the ability to take initiative and multitask.
Under the direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant will perform duties related to:
- Prepare and process journal entries to record financial transactions in the organization's accounting system
- Ensure accuracy by reconciling bank statements, general ledger, and balance sheet accounts
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Compile and complete monthly contract invoicing
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget
- Coordinate, prepare, and submit annual reports, recertifications, and filings
- Assist in preparation for the annual finance and compliance audit
- Complete special projects as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 1-4 years of accounting experience
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking ability
- Demonstrated resourcefulness; ability to independently determine and implement solutions with minimal guidance
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong multitasker with the ability to prioritize
- Must be motivated and committed to high-quality service and continuous professional development
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Demonstrated proficiency with various desktop software applications, including Word and Excel, with intermediate proficiency preferred
