East Side Enterprises District Manager:
The District Managers report to East Side Enterprises Operations Manager. The District Manager, with the Operating Manager’s direction and with full knowledge of the company’s goals and policies, promotes the success of all stores under management with regard to company image, customer service requirements, and revenue. The Operations Manager sets the reporting requirements and accountability standards for District Managers. Managers are provided clear direction, given guidance and support, and evaluated on a continuous basis; corrective proposals are given by the District Manager where deficiencies in store standards and operations are required, and follow-up is provided to be sure that corrections are successfully enacted. The District Manager plays a pivotal role in store recruiting, interviewing and selection for each store under management, helping to ensure good hires and a slower rate of turnover. The District Manager also oversees one Training Store (Cashier Training) with a Training Manager, analyzes results and outcomes of store level training, and oversees that correct reports are placed in HR employee’s files detailing training achievement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- Supervising Managers, setting expectations, observing time and resource management; Being knowledgeable of Manager’s supervisory skills, and observing relationships with all reporting staff; Reinforcing company policies with regard to employment reviews of store staff, compensation requests, write-ups for performance violations and deficiencies.
- Frequent monitoring the internal and external image of the store, the operations, the correct staffing levels based on customer counts, the employees’ competence and enthusiasm for the job and effective sales techniques. Training and supervising all sites to acceptable customer service, site operations and company standards. Identifying and suggesting corrective actions where necessary to improve performance and monitoring the outcome of Managers corrective actions.
- Understanding all site P & L’s and developing plans for improvement. Weekly monitoring of labor costs, rosters, scheduling, and hours. Observing and enforcing Manager’s compliance with Payroll Processing requirements, the provision of signed documents of weekly schedules, and analysis of time worked vs. schedule to uncover variances to Manager’s expectation. Observation of back office management to ensure effective and efficient processes. Ensuring compliance in HS&E and food safety regulations. Setting expectations for accountability standards, adherence to Company policies and procedures. Intervening and supporting Manager during technology down times; coaching when necessary to improve use of technology.
- Conducting Manager performance evaluation function and supervising the Manager’s performance evaluation functions for store staff. Reinforcing Company processes for recruiting, hiring, training, and termination when necessary.
- Setting regular and adhoc meeting schedules individually and as a manager group to introduce new requirements, reports, expectations, upcoming events and responsibilities, reinforcement of cash management and inventory control mechanism, strategies for maximizing gross profit and minimizing loss. Sharing and providing expertise to Manager to bring results in line with East Side Enterprises LLC expectations.
- Unscheduled frequent “Walk the Store” visits, cash audits, lottery audits, cigarette audits, or any other inventory control audit to identify deficiencies, shortages, shift change abnormalities improper counting and handling of company assets; Preparing written warnings on up to immediate terminations as appropriate to the circumstances uncovered.
- Oversight of Training Store in District, continuously evaluating Manager training skills; Confirming that Manager selects best qualified cashiers to impart cashier knowledge to new hires; providing guidance to Manager if candidate cannot fulfill basic requirements.
- Performing ad hoc requests for cooperation with others in inventories, store sets, store openings, special promotions, vacation coverages, store takeovers/conversions, and emergencies within and without all districts in the Operations Manager’s realm.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent length of experience; At least 10 years of progressively more responsible positions in a gas station environment involving convenience stores and car washes; Ability to anticipate and to analyze situations, communicate clearly with subordinates and Operations Manager, and solve store and district problems quickly and creatively. Valid driver’s license. Experience in Microsoft Office products with proficiency in Excel.
