Farm Equipment Manager

Waltham Fields Community Farm (WFCF) seeks a Farm Equipment Manager for our 2026 season.

WFCF is a non-profit organization in its 31st growing season running a mixed vegetable farm and educational and food access programs just outside of Boston. We adhere strictly to organic methods to cultivate 11 acres of farmland. The Farm Equipment Manager works to support our farming operations, helping to supply food to our CSA program, our Mobile Outreach Market program, our Veg Rx program, as well as distributions to our food access partners, Waltham Public Schools and various events throughout the season.

Position Description: The Farm Equipment Manager is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of tractors, implements, mowers, and other farm equipment as well as mowing and trimming grass around the property. Good communication and listening skills and willingness to work cooperatively with other farmers and perform other duties at WFCF is a must. Applicants should be able to sustain focus through repetitive tasks with an upbeat and positive attitude, be prepared to do strenuous physical work in all weather conditions and have a reliable form of transportation. Additional responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the training and support of farm staff in the safe and responsible operation of appropriate equipment (to be determined by the farm manager )
• Maintaining appropriate tools and supplies for equipment maintenance
• Creating a system for updating equipment maintenance logs for tractors and other appropriate equipment

Qualifications:

• Three years experience repairing and maintaining tractors, mowers and/or similar outdoor power equipment.
• Abitlity to lift 50 lbs and spend several hours per day standing, stooping, kneeling, and twisting around as necessary to perform the duties of the job.
• Able to prioritize workload and have flexibility as work demands change.
• Preference will be given to candidates with welding experience.
• Must have a valid MA driver’s license.

Pay and Benefits: We offer a competitive hourly rate (commensurate with qualifications), seasonal farm produce and 20% off farm market items.

Hours and Dates: Part time, approximately 20 hrs/week. Days and hours can be scheduled as needed. This is a seasonal position beginning in early April and ending the last week of October, and there may be an opportunity combine this work with similar work at another farm to create a full time schedule.
