Junior Visual Designer (Contract)

Salary Range: $35 - $40 per hour.

The above base pay range may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The range listed is just one component of Wayfair’s total compensation package for employees. Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commissions and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a comprehensive suite of medical, financial and additional benefits.

Junior Visual Designer (Contract) - Wayfair Creative

This position is a hybrid role that requires 3 days a week in office at our Boston HQ (typically Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday and Friday work from home). This is not a virtual/remote position.

Wayfair is seeking a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Junior Visual Designer on a temporary basis . The contract will be for 1-year , with potential to convert to full-time.

In this role, you’ll work on our in-house creative team to translate business goals into compelling, on-brand marketing content that drives customer engagement and action. The ideal candidate is a self-starter eager to develop new projects and execute existing ones within established templates. We are looking for someone who approaches design through the lens of technology, seeking to drive efficiency and scale in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You'll collaborate with your creative peers, a Design Manager, Creative Director, and Marketing leadership to deliver polished, effective creative work.

Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating strong typography, layout, and color theory skills, as well as an ability to solve design challenges across different formats

What You’ll Do:

• Champion Wayfair’s visual identity by creating consistent, high-quality branded assets that resonate with our customers.
• Design high-impact graphics for diverse channels, including email marketing campaigns, social media assets, site banners, and print collateral, ensuring all work aligns with Wayfair’s brand standards.
• Contribute to the creative process by conducting visual research, participating in brainstorming sessions, and developing mood boards to inspire new design directions.
• Manage multiple projects requiring cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
• Work cross-functionally and partner with other business groups at Wayfair as needed.
• Adopt a technology-first approach to creative challenges by actively exploring and integrating Generative AI tools and automated workflows to enhance efficiency and push the boundaries of our visual output.

What You’ll Need:

• BFA in graphic design or related field, or equivalent training.
• 1+ years of experience in graphic design or related field. Retail or ecommerce experience is preferred.
• Proficient use of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator).
• Experience with Google Suite preferred.
• Deep curiosity and a demonstrated willingness to experiment with emerging technology (specifically AI tools) as a primary driver of creative problem-solving.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats.
• Ability to self-manage projects and seek out answers to questions in a very fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, error-free work.
• Well-versed in both concepting and technical design, with an ability to see things from both a creative and business point of view.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization. Embodies and promotes a successful attitude, a positive work environment, and teamwork to achieve business results.
• Proactive, forward-thinking and collaborative.
