CNC Programmer III

Cadrex is seeking a CNC Programmer III to utilize CAD/CAM software to program and/or operate conventional, special purpose and numerical control (NC) turret presses and laser machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. This role requires advanced expertise in CNC programming languages, machining techniques, and tooling methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality machined parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to develop CNC programs for machining operations, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding
  2. Program CNC machines using advanced CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM) to generate complex toolpaths and optimize machining processes
  3. Optimize CNC programs for efficiency, accuracy, and surface finish, including tool selection, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies
  4. Conduct simulations and test runs to verify program accuracy, identify potential issues, and optimize machining parameters
  5. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality control teams to ensure machining processes meet design requirements and quality standards
  6. Troubleshoot and debug CNC programs, machine tooling, and equipment to resolve machining problems and minimize downtime
  7. Develop and maintain documentation, including CNC programs, setup sheets, tooling lists, and process instructions
  8. Train and mentor junior CNC programmers and machinists on advanced programming techniques, best practices, and safety protocols
  9. Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in CNC machining and programming
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including proper handling and operation of CNC machines and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience programming CNC machines in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on complex machining operations preferred
  • Expertise in CNC programming languages, such as G-code and M-code, and proficiency in CAD/CAM software
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and surface finishes
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining issues and optimize CNC programs
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to CNC machining and programming
  • Experience with multi-axis machining, 5-axis machining, and complex geometries is highly desirable

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience/Certifications may be substituted in lieu of degree

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud
