Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Travel Assignment
• Location: Gardner, MA 01440 (Massachusetts hospital job)
• Assignment Type: Travel healthcare contract
• Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/02/2025 – End: 12/02/2025)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), every 3rd weekend and holiday
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,570 - $1,610

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or eligibility
• Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications (may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Basic computer skills required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical respiratory therapy experience
• Physical ability to exert 20-50 lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patient respiratory status to develop individualized care plans
• Identify and respond to changes in patient condition, taking appropriate clinical action
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and evaluate learning outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Document care plans, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, oxygen therapy, and medication
• Obtain arterial blood gases (ABGs), perform pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, and EKGs
• Assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures
• Set up and manage mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, and CPAP units
• Provide instruction on cardiopulmonary medications and equipment
• Implement VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia) bundle components and report deviations
