Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager (Westport)
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager supports and enhances the company’s safety culture. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and policies that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, state, and local regulations. The EHS Manager conducts safety training, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and partners closely with operations leadership to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment. This role requires intermittent travel to all company locations for trainings and inspections as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, including but not limited to: Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Machine Guarding, and PPE Programs
- Maintain EPA and multi state environmental compliance related to: Stormwater management, SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure), Universal waste and hazardous waste storage, Air emissions and fugitive dust control
- Conduct and document regular facility inspections at all locations within the company.
- Develop and implement EHS policies tailored to all operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to identify hazards.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal, stormwater runoff, and air quality monitoring.
- Train employees on PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, fire safety, and emergency response.
- Oversee near misses, injuries, property damage, environmental releases, and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of safety audits, permits, MSDS/SDS, and environmental reports.
- Lead safety meetings, trainings and audits.
- Coach employees on safe work practices and help foster a strong safety culture.
- Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and environmental reporting.
- Conduct scheduled and surprise inspections of all departments and settings to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Ensure contractors comply with site-specific EHS rules.
- Assist with safety specifications for new equipment and process changes.
Compensation details: 70000-80000 Yearly Salary
