SCM Group North America is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to develop new business and support customers throughout the New England/Northeast territory. This home-based position is ideal for a motivated sales professional who enjoys building customer relationships, identifying new opportunities, and growing a territory through strategic business development.
Candidates may reside in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or another centrally located area within the assigned territory . Proximity to a major airport is preferred to support regular travel throughout the region.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced outside sales professional with a background in CNC machinery, industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, automation equipment, woodworking machinery, or other capital equipment who enjoys helping manufacturers improve productivity through innovative equipment solutions.
Compensation
- Base salary starting at $60,000
- Uncapped commission
- Top performers regularly earn six-figure incomes
What You'll Do
- Develop new business opportunities throughout the New England/Northeast territory
- Prospect and identify new customers using strategic sales techniques
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with manufacturers, end users, dealers, distributors, and key industry partners
- Support existing dealer partners while expanding the dealer network
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing
- Conduct customer visits, equipment presentations, and product demonstrations
- Work closely with engineering and technical teams to develop customer solutions
- Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close equipment sales
- Maintain accurate customer and sales activity within the CRM system
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, with occasional international travel
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience selling industrial machinery, CNC machinery, manufacturing equipment, automation equipment, woodworking machinery, or other capital equipment
- At least 1 year of outside sales, territory sales, business development, or technical sales experience
- Proven ability to prospect, develop leads, and generate new business
- Strong mechanical, technical, or engineering aptitude
- Experience working with dealer or distributor networks is preferred
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently from a home office
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory
