Position Summary

This role will help develop and optimize production and manufacturing processes to achieve the output, quality, and cost goals as outlined by Murata Power Solutions (MPS). This includes creating manufacturing processes through analysis of product requirements, testing of different manufacturing methods, and working with engineering and business operations departments in the consultation of different supply and equipment vendors.

This role is avaiable to be fully remote if you are located in the United States.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design and Manufacturing:
    • Works closely with PCB design, electrical, and mechanical engineering to conceptualize and design the entire product electronic packaging for custom AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, including ensuring said designs have an automation focus.
    • Designs AC/DC and DC/DC manufacturing process solutions, applying in-depth knowledge of design constraints and considerable degree of judgment.
    • Assists in establishing standards for the manufacturing of products, as well as testing methods to confirm said product standards, including working with assigned managers to develop technician training plans for current and future manufacturing processes.
      • Conducts research into various design operations, materials, assembly methods, product fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes to increase the company's operational knowledge and determine the most efficient practices.
  • Process Creation and Maintenance:
    • Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy, and raw materials.
  • Ensures that manufacturing processes both present and future are within compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and laws.
  • Develops assembly processes, associated fixtures, and specialized tools (SMI).
  • Develops and implements assembly strategy for new products including DFM analysis and feedback.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Cont.

  • Data and Record Keeping:
    • Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
    • Identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve them.
    • Cost /benefit analysis of design solutions and implementation options and assisting both engineering and business operations departments with determining costs associated with current and potential manufacturing processes.
  • Customer and Other Responsibilities:
  • Provides feedback to customers and other design functions regarding design issues, quality, materials, etc.
  • Influences others outside of the team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner.
  • Translates customer and design requirements into factory activities.
  • Visits suppliers to evaluate their process controls and quality programs.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in directly related field with 2 to 4 years of related manufacturing process development experience
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing guidelines and laws as present on both a national and state level
  • Demonstration of highly proficient analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines in collaboration with Program Management.
  • Knowledge of industry design and quality standards
  • Expert knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for fabrication of custom designed parts and sub-assemblies including inspection techniques and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of material finishes, cosmetic requirements, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret email communications and requests from design engineers, management, vendors, and global manufacturing partners
