We are seeking a Behavioral Specialist to join the Mercy Centre team in West Boylston, MA. The Mercy Centre program serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages eighteen and over, in four different programs from the Worcester County extended area: Employment Supports Program, Group Supported Employment, Community Based Day Support, and Day Habilitation Program. The Adult Services programs have been in existence for about sixty years.
Primary Responsibility : This position supports individuals with autism spectrum disorder, pervasive developmental disorders, or significant behavioral challenges, and may involve working with adults who have additional developmental or intellectual disabilities. This role collaborates with staff and management within Mercy Centre’s Employment, Community-Based Day Services (CBDS), and Day Habilitation programs to promote positive behavioral outcomes and meaningful community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and develop individualized behavior plans based on participant needs.
Implement behavioral interventions and crisis support as needed.
Document behavioral data, progress, and incidents in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and external providers.
Train and support staff in behavioral strategies and protocols.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all safety and reporting requirements.
Minimum 1 year experience in behavioral programming; 3+ years preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or related field preferred.
Knowledge of DDS Human Rights regulations and experience managing complex behaviors.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.
Adult CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
Successful completion of required pre-employment background screenings, including CORI, SORI, fingerprinting, and DPPC Abuser Registry checks.
Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test required before hire and ongoing compliance during employment.
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and supporting participants.
