Piano Instructor for Kids Group Classes
North Shore Piano Studio is an established piano school located in Lynn, MA. We offer both private and group instruction to kids and adults in a fun, structured, and engaging setting. Our mission is to foster a love for music, create a supportive learning environment, and help our students build a strong foundation as pianists.
This is a group instructor position, not a typical private piano teacher role. We're looking for a candidate who can create an inspiring, high-energy learning environment for groups of up to 5 kids (ages 6+) learning to play piano together.
Note that many of the job requirements listed below are preferred — we are willing to train the right candidate for any skills that need improving. The must-have requirements are: a car for reliable transportation, professionalism, punctuality, excellent communication, and the ability to work with and inspire a group of young students.
Schedule: We are looking for a teacher to start on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays immediately, with after school hours from 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Classes are 55 minutes each with short breaks between. There is potential to expand to additional days later this year as our program grows.
Job Description: We're seeking an engaging and enthusiastic Group Piano Instructor to join our team and help lead our growing kids program. In this role, you will teach small group classes (up to 5 students) using our structured, step-by-step curriculum. Lesson plans are provided.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Create a positive, encouraging environment that keeps young students engaged, motivated, and having fun
- Follow our structured curriculum while adapting to the needs of individual students within each group
- Quickly hear and correct mistakes in notes, rhythm, and technique on the fly
- Help students of varying skill levels learn and grow together in a group setting
- Communicate clearly and professionally with parents about student progress and with studio leadership
Responsibilities:
- Teach group piano classes following our provided curriculum and lesson plans
- Adapt instruction to individual skill levels within each class and provide personalized feedback
- Encourage, motivate, and problem-solve to help young students overcome challenges
- Communicate with parents regularly about student progress, challenges, and achievements
- Keep accurate records and communicate any issues promptly
- Be open to training, assisting with other classes, and learning the technology used in our program
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience teaching piano
- Experience teaching group classes
- A bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience
- Experience working with children
- A friendly, patient, and encouraging teaching style
- Comfortable adapting to mixed skill levels within a group
- Able to commit to the 2026/2027 school year or beyond
- We prefer instructors who live within 10 miles of the studio
What We Offer:
- Competitive pay: $50–$80 per hour, based on experience, with bi-annual pay raises
- A structured, well-designed curriculum with lesson plans provided
- Training and hands-on experience to learn how we teach
- Ongoing professional development in group teaching techniques
- Opportunities for growth and advancement within our expanding studio, including additional teaching days
- A fun and rewarding teaching environment with an engaged community of young learners
How to Apply: Please submit your resume and cover letter to [email protected].
Pay: $50.00 - $80.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
