Our client is a national organization established in 1991 with corporate headquarters in New York, NY, employing approximately 200 people. The organization manages data entry and registration operations for the American Kennel Club and engages expert consultants to deliver key digital initiatives.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $70.00 to $80.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all Shopify development activities and serve as the technical point of contact.

  • Scope and estimate work by analyzing requirements and breaking down components with time and cost details.

  • Develop modular Online Store 2.0 sections and blocks following best practices.

  • Implement custom homepage components including hero banners, promotional blocks, category tiles, product grids, and carousels.

  • Ensure responsive behavior across mobile, tablet, and desktop breakpoints.

  • Deliver WCAG 2.1 AA compliant components and user experiences.

  • Optimize performance with image optimization, lazy-loading, and Lighthouse improvements.

  • Conduct thorough self-QA across major browsers and devices prior to client handoff.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in milestone meetings, code reviews, and UAT sessions.

  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation and admin guides.

  • Write clean, maintainable, reusable code that integrates with existing themes.

Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional Shopify development experience.

  • Expert knowledge of Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture, JSON templates, and theme customization.

  • Strong proficiency with Liquid, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.

  • Proven experience translating UX designs from tools such as Figma, Zeplin, or Sketch into Shopify implementations.

  • Deep understanding of theme editor configuration and block-based architecture.

  • Demonstrated ability to build WCAG 2.1 AA compliant components.

  • Performance optimization experience including image optimization, lazy-loading, and Lighthouse score improvement.

  • Consulting or contractor background with independent work, client expectation management, and delivery on fixed timelines.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Portfolio of Shopify homepage redesigns or complex component projects (preferred).

  • Experience with video integration and media optimization in Shopify (preferred).

  • Familiarity with GitHub workflows and version control best practices (preferred).

  • Previous agency or consulting firm experience (preferred).

  • Track record of successful fixed-price project delivery (preferred).

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
