ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT


Reports to: Superintendent General Superintendent, and/or Vice President of Field Operations

Objective: Responsible for helping the project superintendent with the complete supervision, field management, safety and execution of a Windover project.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Set-up: Responsible for leveraging the superintendent and helping the project team to ensure that proper tools, processes and other requirements are in place prior to the beginning of the project.


Project Execution:
Leverages the superintendent to deliver projects the Windover Way

  • Helps the superintendent coordinate the trade partners to ensure that the project is being executed according to expectations.
  • Assists the superintendent in tracking progress and help to update the project schedule, logistics and three-week look-ahead.
  • Assists the superintendent to ensure that the project is being built per plans and specifications.
  • Reports discrepancies immediately to the superintendent and oversees the trade partners, to ensure they correct any deficient work.
  • Builds respect and rapport with the trade partners by actively seeking out ways to help with the challenges, problems and solutions by utilizing project knowledge.
  • Updates and maintains site documents to include: Sub Daily Sign-in Log, Visitor Sign-in Log, Daily reports, weekly safety reports, three week look-aheads and daily progress photos saving them to Procore daily.
  • Identifies hazards; enforce / maintain / monitor safety of site.
  • Reports all types of requests to make sure each issue comes to closure, including but not limited to: scheduling, materials, labor projections, submittals, punch list and warranty.
  • Assists in managing trade partner changes and extra work authorizations (EWA’s), ensuring proper documentation, cost tracking, and clear communication with the superintendent and project manager.
  • Works with the superintendent to perform preliminary ‘work to complete list’.
  • Assists the superintendent in creating and managing the final punch list, coordinating with trades, providing feedback, and scheduling the back punch with the owner and/or architect.
  • Tracks necessary weekly permits from state and local authorities as needed (off hour work permits, street permits, sidewalk permits, dumpster permits, etc.

Develop and maintain critical relationships.

  • Works collaboratively with external parties to accomplish client goals. Maintains close communication with project team regarding client concerns or expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-2 years as an Assistant Superintendent or completed Construction Management Apprenticeship Program/similar program
  • Holds a current MA CSL or completes within 6 months of start of employment
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Basic plan reading
  • Procore certifications within 3 months of start of employment

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Due to the environment, the employee will need to take proper precautions and wear the proper personal protective equipment. Training and equipment will be provided by Windover.


Physical Demands while performing the duties of this job:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may lift heavy objects no heavier than 50 lbs. without assistance, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.


The position requires:

  • Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
  • The ability to quickly move arms and legs
  • Talking and hearing, both in person and by telephone


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; and work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions.
