About the role:
At Boston Scientific, we advance science to improve lives. As an Engineer III, Research & Development , you’ll join a team that’s designing innovative, life-changing technologies in Urology. This role focuses on developing products, materials, processes, or equipment for projects of moderate complexity. You will work both independently and collaboratively to bring solutions from concept through development while ensuring quality, safety, and impact for our patients. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the design, development, and testing of new products, processes, and materials.
  • Independently plan and schedule activities to meet project timelines.
  • Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments.
  • Procure and fabricate tooling and fixtures to support development.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot design, material, or process issues.
  • Analyze test data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings in clear, concise reports.
  • Generate and maintain engineering documentation.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and submit disclosures for new product or process concepts.
  • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure project success.
  • Apply Product Life Cycle knowledge to deliver high-quality project outputs.
  • Mentor or guide technicians and junior team members as needed.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality through adherence to Boston Scientific’s Quality System.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a regulated industry, with medical device experience highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize data from varied technical inputs.
  • Effective organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage individual project deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in process manufacturing or process development.
  • Experience in test method development and validation.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools (Minitab preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
