Flax Pond Camp - Senior Counselor
Starting Pay - $17.00/hour
Senior Counselors oversee kids between the ages of 6-14 providing them a fun summer camp experience. Senior Counselors plan and implement a variety of daily activities and games for their group. These activities included but is not limited to, swimming, hiking, sports, and field games. All staff are required to participate in all of the activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of sophomore year of high school or equivalent. Must also be certified in CPR and First Aid. Experience working with youths is helpful.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical effort required for work performed in the field. Required to spend several hours standing, walking, reach arms, and light lifting under 50lbs.
- Keep track of all children assigned to you at all times.
- Work cooperatively with other counselors to develop a positive group atmosphere.
- Remain with your assigned group unless otherwise instructed by the Flax Pond Coordinator.
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment for all campers.
- Contact the Flax Pond Coordinator of any concerns about camper welfare immediately.
- Report physical facility hazards to Flax Pond Coordinator immediately.
- Stay with children when they attend program areas and when swimming at the Waterfront area.
- Sit with the children during morning assembly and afternoon assembly.
- Participate in all activities and programs with the children.
- Use a fair discipline policy which insures camper safety.
- Make sure all equipment used is neatly returned and secured by the end of the day.
- Promote a positive atmosphere for all campers in your care, which includes being appropriate in speech and relationships with campers and Teen campers.
- Arrive at work on time and prepared for the day’s activities.
- Participate in the team staff environment by being a Team Leader on an alternating weekly schedule.
- Follow all of the staff policies and procedures.
