Deerpath is focused on providing debt capital for acquisitions, refinancings, ownership transitions and growth capital to companies in the U.S. lower middle market. Position Overview

Deerpath Capital is seeking a highly motivated Junior Data & AI Analyst to join our team and help expand the firm’s data, automation, and artificial intelligence capabilities. This role will support the origination team by improving how we capture, analyze, and leverage data across the firm.

The position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional who enjoys solving real business problems with technology and is interested in applying modern data tools and AI capabilities in a finance environment.

This role will work closely with investment professionals and technology leadership and will gradually assume responsibilities currently managed within the origination data function.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of internal databases and data pipelines used by the firm’s origination team
• Build and maintain Python- and SQL-based tools to automate data collection, processing, and reporting
• Assist in managing and improving data infrastructure and database architecture
• Help integrate external data sources and APIs into internal systems
• Explore and implement ways to leverage large language models (LLMs) and generative AI tools to improve research, data processing, and internal workflows
• Work with investment professionals to identify opportunities to automate manual processes
• Assist with data quality management, validation, and documentation
• Support the ongoing transition of responsibilities related to origination data management

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field
• Minor in Business, Economics, or Finance preferred
• 0–2 years of experience (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
• Internship experience at a financial institution, investment firm, consulting firm, or fintech company preferred
• Proficiency in Python
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Understanding of database design and data engineering fundamentals
• Familiarity with data analysis and automation workflows
• Working knowledge of large language models (LLMs) or generative AI tools and an interest in applying them to practical business use cases
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a small, collaborative team environment
• Curiosity about emerging technology and its application to financial workflows
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical ideas into business solutions

Compensation Range: $75,000–$95,000 plus a competitive bonus
