Our facility in Newburyport Massachusetts has an opening for a 2ndshift Maintenance Technician 2shift hours are 2:00pm- 10:30 pmMonday - Friday Position Overview: As a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining all manufacturing equipment within the production areas. This includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of production lines that bring our premium desserts to life. This position also requires an understanding of Quality Management Systems, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP, to ensure the safety and quality of both employees and products. Key Responsibilities Identify and repair mechanical defects and equipment malfunctions. Perform and document Preventive Maintenance (PM) using the company's CMMS system to eliminate unplanned downtime. Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment and process failures to suggest corrective actions. Collaborate effectively in a team environment focused on safety, efficiency, and reliability. Train operators on basic maintenance techniques and proper equipment care. Support GMP, SQF, and HACCP compliance standards to ensure product safety and quality. Assist with diagnostics, repairs, rebuilds, and reliability improvements. Document all maintenance work within the CMMS system and follow all CMMS procedures. Support continuous improvement of the Preventive Maintenance program to reduce unplanned downtime. Perform other duties as assigned by supervision. Qualifications Required: 3+ years of industrial mechanical experience or a 2-year technical degree (preferred). Ability to follow safe work practices and adhere to mechanical, electrical, and environmental regulations. Strong understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Capable of disassembling/reassembling production equipment and ensuring correct operation post-maintenance. Experience installing, aligning, and adjusting mechanical power transmission components (gearboxes, bearings, chains, shafts, gears). Skilled in troubleshooting, alignment, lubrication, and rigging/moving parts safely. Ability to interpret basic fluid power schematics and test pneumatic systems. Install and test AC/DC motors in manual control circuits; replace fuses and breakers as needed. Perform basic welding tasks, following PPE and process safety protocols. Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer skills required. Must bring own tools (tool list provided upon hire; must be on-site within 2 weeks). Must obtain a Forklift License within 90 days of hire. Must pass HACCP Certification requirements. Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of ovens, bakery, or packaging equipment. Experience with EMAINT or other CMMS platforms. AIB Bakery Equipment training is a plus. Strong teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
