Associate Director of Career Champions Network, CENTER FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The Associate Director of Career Champions Network leads the Boston University Center for Career Development's (CCD) efforts to integrate career readiness throughout the student academic experience. Reporting to the Director of Career Education, the Associate Director is responsible for building strong relationships with faculty, academic leaders, advisors, and campus partners to strengthen the University's career ecosystem and provide students with a robust support network for career exploration, readiness, and success. The Associate Director provides leadership for faculty engagement initiatives, including the Career Champions network, career curriculum development, and efforts to integrate career readiness into the academic experience. Working closely with faculty and staff who serve as advisors, mentors, and Career Champions, this role develops partnerships, resources, and educational initiatives that connect academic and career development to equip students with key career readiness skills.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and sustain partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, academic leaders, and campus partners (such as The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, BU Virtual, BU Hub and various departments and centers) to further integration of career readiness into courses, advising, and other academic and co-curricular experiences. Provide consultation, resources, workshops, and training that support career integration throughout the student academic experience.
- Lead and manage the CCD's Career Champions network, developing and implementing strategies to engage members of the Boston University career ecosystem in fostering student career development. Coordinate training, communications, professional development opportunities, and resources that equip Career Champions to incorporate career conversations and career readiness into their work with students.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Career Education in advancing the CCD’s Career Everywhere initiative and strengthening Boston University’s career ecosystem. Collaborate with CCD teams including Career Education, Internships and Industry Partnerships, Operations, Marketing, Data, and campus partners to ensure alignment between academic partnerships and broader career education priorities.
- Support implementation of standard data collection practices related to faculty engagement, Career Champions, career curriculum initiatives, and other academic partnership efforts. Utilize data in program planning and evaluation, produce reports as needed, and support the CCD’s overall data analytics and assessment strategy. Manage budgetary resources as assigned.
- Represent the CCD at special events and to designated departments, schools and colleges, committees, organizations, and campus groups, advancing career education priorities and strengthening Boston University's career ecosystem. Engage in professional development, including participation in office-sponsored, local, regional, and/or national associations, remaining current on best practices and trends in career education, curriculum design, teaching and learning, faculty engagement, and student success, and contributing to the profession through presenting, publishing, or serving on committees.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, counseling, or a related field and five to eight years of experience in career services, higher education, academic affairs, teaching and learning, curriculum development, or a related setting.
- Doctoral degree, college-level teaching experience, and/or experience in curriculum development or faculty engagement preferred.
- Experience developing and sustaining collaborative partnerships with faculty, academic leaders, advisors, and other campus stakeholders.
- Experience designing, implementing, and assessing educational programs, curriculum, learning outcomes, workshops, faculty development initiatives, or professional development programs.
- Experience facilitating trainings, presentations, workshops, or consultations for faculty, staff, and other stakeholder groups.
- Knowledge of career development theory, career readiness competencies, and student success practices in higher education.
- Cultural competency, commitment to inclusion, equity and engagement of all students, including students from marginalized communities.
- Highly collaborative, able to conduct outreach and develop relationships with diverse constituents including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers.
- Exceptional communication, listening, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and report on client and program data to inform decision making.
- Ability and eagerness to learn and utilize computer applications, systems, AI, and educational technologies.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed to support CCD activities.
- This is a hybrid position, eligible for two days of remote work per week throughout the year.
