SMMA has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Plumbing/Fire Protection Designer to work on stimulating projects at ourProvidence, RI, Manchester, NH or Cambridge, MA offices. Working alongside a project leader, the candidates will be expected to provide new ideas and share knowledge that will advance each project, the firms mission, and their professional careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revit design experience and the ability tolearn and become proficient inRevit design software.
- This position will either include being a lead designer or assisting a Lead Engineer on assigned projects of various types and applications. A balance of technical, communication and organizational skills is needed for this role.
- Technical: basic knowledge and fundamental experience in the range of building Plumbing and Fire Protection systems and applications; the ability to engage in technical discussions with the project lead engineer or as part of a project team meeting.
- Communication: verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical people; comfort in representing the trade in project team discussions.
- Organizational skills: general time management, coordinating resources and meeting deadlines.
- Codes: knowledge or familiarity with applicable building codes is favorable (e.g. NFPA, State Codes, federal/UFC codes).
Qualifications:
- Experience in building systems design
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanicalor Civil Engineering is preferred, but project design experience is also considered.
- REVIT experience
