Summer Resident Camp Staff 2026 Seasonal Positions
Job Description
Job Description
Camp Squanto
Camp Squanto is home to Mayflower Council's Scouting America summer resident camp. It is a 650 acre camping facility located deep in the woods of Myles Standish State forest in Plymouth, Massachusetts. For five and a half weeks in the summer, our trained staff run a high quality, energetic, long-term camping experience for Scouting units and individuals.
HIRING INFORMATIONDo you want a summer job that makes a difference? Join the team at Camp Squanto, part of Scouting America's premier outdoor programs, and spend your summer leading adventures, building skills, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
We're hiring staff for a wide range of roles including program instructors, area directors, dining hall staff, trading post staff, administrative support, and camp leadership positions. No matter your area of interest, you'll be part of a team that delivers the magic of camp to hundreds of Scouts each week.
Staff Training Week: Late June- Early July
Camp Season: July – Early August
Some positions may require National Camping School (NCS) training prior to camp (tuition covered).
Qualifications- Full-season availability preferred
- Some outdoor camping experience
- Enjoy working outside
- Have a passion for working with youth
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with campers, leaders, staff, and visitors.
Working on camp staff means being part of something bigger than just a summer job-it's about creating the kind of camp experience that you'd want to have yourself. Every staff member helps maintain a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every camper feels like they belong. You'll be more than just an instructor or counselor-you'll be a role model, setting the example for Scouts by living out the values of the Scout Oath and Law in everything you do. From helping set up and run program areas to joining in campwide traditions like flag ceremonies, campfires, and evening programs, you'll play a part in bringing camp to life. Staff members also participate in training before the season starts, learning new skills, bonding as a team, and preparing for the weeks ahead. Once camp begins, you'll work side by side with other staff to teach skills, lead activities, and encourage campers as they grow in confidence, character, and adventure. No two days look exactly the same-you might be teaching a new skill in the morning, running a big game in the afternoon, and singing around the campfire at night. While each position has its own specific responsibilities, every staff member contributes to the overall magic of camp by pitching in where needed, supporting fellow staff, and keeping campers safe through following Scouting America's safeguarding and safety guidelines. It's challenging, it's rewarding, and it's one of the most unforgettable jobs you'll ever have.
