CTA Construction Managers – Waltham, MA

CTA Construction Managers is an award-winning, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor specializing in the construction of large-scale, complex educational, municipal, healthcare, and commercial projects throughout Massachusetts. We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations and play a key role in supporting our continued growth.

This position is ideal for a motivated accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and has a strong understanding of construction accounting, financial reporting, and project cost management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, payroll, and monthly financial reporting.
• Manage construction-specific accounting functions, including AIA progress billings, certified payroll, job cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion (WIP) reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and coordinate with the company's outside CPA firm for tax filings and annual audits.
• Monitor company and project cash flow, prepare cash flow projections, and assist with budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Manage project cost reporting and provide financial analysis to support project managers and executive leadership.
• Administer corporate insurance programs, including builder's risk, general liability, workers' compensation, and subcontractor insurance compliance.
• Oversee payroll, 401(k) administration, employee benefits, and other HR-related accounting functions.
• Develop and maintain accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–10+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, AIA billing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience with payroll, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with construction management/accounting software is a plus.
