Diamond Turning Operator Trainee

We are seeking a qualified recent graduate to learn setup and operation of diamond turning machines to produce optical components.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the setup, basic programming, and safe operation of single point diamond turning machines under supervision, following established setup, process, and quality work instructions
• Support the design and preparation of tooling and fixtures for SPDT optical components
• Assist in performing routine preventative maintenance on production equipment
• Support inspection of optical components to ensure compliance with customer specifications and requirements under supervision

Requirements:

• Must be comfortable handling materials such as Silicon, Germanium, Zinc Selenide, Zinc Sulfide, Aluminum, Brass, Calcium Fluoride, IRG26 and IRG27, etc.
• Knowledge of Metrology including the use and understanding of standard measuring equipment in addition to a profilometer and interferometer
• Document processes and work instructions for diamond turning operation
• Able to read, understand and follow written instructions and procedures
• Must have excellent decision-making abilities and strong attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Experience/Certifications/Degrees Required :

• High School diploma
• CNC Experience desired, but not required

• Handling of delicate optics
• Good math skills
• Working with chemicals and solvents
• Following all safety and health regulations
