Lead Engineer - Preliminary Design Product Cost
- Collaborate with teams of engineers and technologists to understand new state of the art technologies and determine their production cost drivers.
- Extract data from GE Aerospace's current engines and modify it as required to represent future engines.
- Lead cross-functional teams including mechanical designers, performance engineers, and business case analysts to explore options that balance financial and engineering goals.
- Collaborate globally across GE Aerospace's multiple sites worldwide.
- Lead cost reviews & audits as required for customer commitments and design space studies.
- Lead the development and integration of parametric cost tools to enable parametric design space exploration and optimization studies.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Execute with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.
- Recommend approaches to PD Leadership independently that meet the technical and program requirements.
- Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments.
- Provide technical guidance to other personnel and global / cross-functional assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments.
- Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (or a related field) from an accredited University or College
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
- 4 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, supply chain, sourcing, or manufacturing operations position
- 4 years of experience with aerospace products
- Understanding of business cases including initial production and maintenance costs over the life of a product
- Experience with manufacturing cost estimation for turbine engines or similar equipment
- Understanding of assembly processes for turbine engines or similar equipment
- Experience collaborating with global cross-functional teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to guide and influence others
- Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
- Exposure to both military and commercial engine design requirements
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
