About the Department
Putnam Investments, a Franklin Templeton investment team, is a diversified, equity-only asset manager with roots dating back to 1937. We manage a range of active equity portfolios with a focus on stock-specific opportunities. Our approach — stock-driven rather than style-driven — is designed to produce consistent outperformance, regardless of the market environment. As of December 31, 2025, the Putnam equity team managed over $162 billion in assets under management. We offer a range of strategies across styles and geographies in a number of vehicles to meet the investment needs of our global investors. Available vehicles include mutual funds, institutional separate accounts, SMA/model portfolios, ETFs, CITs, and UCITS.
About the Opportunity
Putnam is hiring an Equity Analyst to cover Asian Financials. The analyst will research a wide range of companies in the financials sector. The goal of the analyst is to develop deep and differentiated insights leading to high conviction investment opportunities. These conclusions are derived from a creative, thorough, and iterative research process.
How You Will Add Value
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct creative, differentiated fundamental research
Develop in-depth expertise on the sector and launch ratings on names based on alpha opportunities
Build and maintain detailed, specific, complete financial models with projections
Communicate rationale for company/sector recommendations to portfolio managers, as well as sector themes and broader investment insights drawn from research work
Actively monitor sector and communicate important changes in your views a timely manner
What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role
Experience, Education & Certifications
Equity Analyst with 3+ years of experience
Experience covering Asian Financials
MBA or CFA beneficial, or progress towards
Outstanding financial, fundamental, strategic, and communication skills
Ability to articulate and present complex information in an understandable format
Comfortable with developing conviction and expressing strong opinions, often in situations where there is a time and/or information constraint.
Demonstrated passion for stocks and companies
Motivated to join a team and have impact
Strong work ethic and a high level of curiosity
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $185,000.00 to $225,000.00 USD plus bonus potential.
